Problem with new Garmin

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a Garmin Echomap Plus 44cv for my boat.  This is my first fish finder.  I've used it on a few different lakes and on the river and I keep having the same problem.  When I use the traditional mode, I see a line showing on the screen at the 5 foot mark.  When I switch to the ClearVu mode there are several lines on the screen.  The lines only show up when I am sitting still.  If the boat is moving with the trolling motor, the lines disappear and the screen is clear.  At first I thought it might have been a layer of sediment or something in the water at that level but not with it showing on different lakes.  I was able to take some pictures when I was out the other day.  Sorry they are not the greatest but they show the problem that I am having.  The transducer is mounted on the transom.  Is there a setting that is wrong or is some type of interference causing the lines?  Thanks in advance.

Gain adjustments make any difference?

I adjusted it but it didn't seem to help

Perhaps interference... but I'm not sure... Why not call Garmin tech support direct? Even offer to send them the pictures.

Are you moving or just stationary?  Fish finders show line when you are just sitting rather than moving.

I've had this unit for a year and used it a lot this summer. I troll and sometimes stop to cast with it on. I've never seen this issue before. I don't know if it's something about your setup that's different from mine or not. It could be something like that but mine just works well with none of these things happening.
