Featured Replies

Hi BR,

Here is a video of a recent afternoon fishing trip from the bank of some nearby ponds where I go over wacky Rig and Neko rig fishing from A to Z.

hope you like it!

Every time I read about the Neko rig my hair stands up because we are loosing our fishing terms and history along with them. The Neko rig is a nail weight rig renamed.

The nail weight rig dates back into the early 70's when anglers used nails for the weight and wacky hooked soft plastic worms through the molded egg sack feature on early Creme and Mann's worms. Neko isn't new and wacky dates back to the nail weight worm.

James thank you sharing your expertise and family time.

Marketing 101. $$$

Nail weighted Wacky rig (old fishing technique) vs neko rig (New hot technique from Japan).

Same with the "Ned rig" vs old finesse technique of using sub 3" plastics with light jigs that came about in the 1950-1960's.

The good thing about the marketing hype is that is resurges an idea that lost its popularity and teaches a new generation of anglers new (old and proven) techniques, just with a trendy new name :)

Thanks for sharing your video. The names don't matter all that matters is they catch fish.

True...Fish certainly don’t know what we call it.
