One of the worst lines I have ever used.......

Featured Replies

Bought some 10 lb, liked it a lot, so I also got twelve and fourteen. No issues at all on memory, although I have been using line conditioner on it.

I can't imagine that you got fake spools, the stuff doesn't cost enough to be worth faking. But I am curious if you got them both at the same place.

I got them both at Cabela's.  I actually went in to get some line to replace what I bought.  I told the guy working in fishing department my story and they let me return it.  I have to admit I felt awkward returning a more than half empty spool of line but they took it back without question.   I ended up not getting any new line because they were out of just about everything. I picked up a few baits instead.

Actually the two worst lines ever are P-Line Fluoroclear and Berkley Vanish.  Both horrible lines.

I used the 10lb and 12lb Advance most of this past winter as it kept me fishing at near freezing temps far better than braid could, then into the post spawn right before the weeds totally took over. I pulled in some really good fish on both. I had one break-off on the 10lb which was totally my fault. Otherwise, no weirdness. But I felt it really needed line conditioner as a matter of course. As an aside, I got a spool of 17 Siege that was junk. I'll be spooling up a few reels with the 10lb Advance soon. It's less squirrerlly than the 12lb  on the brink of freezing. Hopefully I won't get a bum spool of it.

I've not really been all that adventurous with my line choices but the only one I have not been reasonably satisfied with has been Berkley Fireline-which was surprising as I like most Berkley products.  It fishes like dental floss and forget about trying to use it as a leader!

My first spool of Berkley vanish was the best thing ever.  And the second one was just as great.  It had just came out and I loved it. The following year I stocked up on it.  Big mistake.  It just wasn't the same.

Worst line I have ever used is Berkley Vanish. It works as described though, you set the hook and your lure vanishes.
