Lews side plate issue

Featured Replies

Started tearing down a Lews MB reel I have laying around and ran into something new. After removing the handle and all 4 screws the side plate will not come off. It lifts about a quarter of an inch on all sides. I’ve pulled fairly hard and shook it a bit but it’s locked in there good.  I can tell it’s coming from the drive shaft.  Any ideas?

Well I got it after removing the oil port cap. I had removed the screw but the little plastic piece was catching on the main gear.

Maybe this will help someone in the future lol

Was about to say it's the little plastic to grease main gear! Happened to me also lol

None of my other reels have the port so it was definitely a learning experience. I beat by head for an hour trying to figure it out. Kind of a quirky design requiring it to be remove it if you ask me.
