Hi Guys & Gals,

I'm in Central Florida, water temp is 68 degrees on our little lake.  Just completed power to new dock and installed a BO JO Fish light which knocks bugs to the water surface at night. It's been going each night for about 2 weeks.  Wild minnows are coming in and eating the bugs as they should.    Recently I noticed about 6-8 LM Bass that appear to be 3 pounders circling under the light at Nascar Speeds and pattern!  The bass are about Mid Level in Water Column 4 -5 feet deep-( total depth = 8 feet)  I have dropped 6" Live Night Crawlers, Large minnows, Crappie Jigs, and a spinner bait down on the racing bass.  They pay NO ATTENTION!  They will bump the worm or minnow away as they do their laps.  Every once in a while a Monster Bass comes busting thru really fast and they all split up, but do come back after 15 minutes or so and start the race again.

Anybody have a clue as to what they are doing?  The lowest surface temp the lake (11 acres) has gotten this fall/winter is 65 degrees.  It's a Spring fed lake.

My Guesses are :

1. Male chasing Female - I have seen a pair of bass looking for a place to build a bed near the dock, so maybe it's that time? 

2. Creating vortex pulling minnows down and eating?

3. Keeping minnows in bait ball?  When the light is turned off, the top of the water starts busting all around as the minnows disperse

Most likely #3. I'd think that the light going out causes a feeding frenzy because the bass can no longer see the bait ball and the minnows have the opportunity to escape. 

 Net the bait that is circling the light and use them . Fun way to fish if my old arse could stay awake
