Help! Inexperienced fisherman!

Featured Replies

I’m just getting back into fishing, so I’m learning as I go.  I was able to buy a Shimano Curado casting rod 7’4” medium/heavy moderate action for $70.00 which had barely been used.   I am now figuring out that it is commonly used for crankbaits.  Can it be used for other applications like Texas rigs?  I am going to pair it up with a curado k 7:4.1 or 8:5.1.

Sounds like a good rod for topwaters with treble hooks and possibly bladed jigs as well.

Can it be used for other applications? Yeah go for it if thats all you got. It's not ideal based on most people's opinions here but that shouldn't stop you from fishing what you want.

That rod is blended with fiberglass so it’s certainly not ideal for worm fishing but it will work.

You could use a tree branch and a shoe lace, but it ain't perfect. There are certain tools (rods) for certain jobs.
