was browsing the rules and regulations at diamond valley lake. Rule number 10 states no sit on top kayaks allowed? Thats strange as arent most fishing kayaks sit on top? Does anyone on here fish from a SOT kayak there? It also states the kayak must be 10 ft long? I know a lot of the kayaks labeled as 10 footers are actually a few inches short of 10 ft. So what gives?

 

Kayaks and canoes, at least 10 feet long, non-bailing and with seating for all passengers inside the boat, are allowed. No sit-on-top kayaks are allowed.

Typical regulations for SoCal area public lakes, it was 12' minimum before kayaks became popular. Low to the water watercraft mixed with recreational power boats isn't a safe mix!

I guess sit inside is less chance for body contact of water compare to sit on top. Another reason float tube is not allow. Lake skinner is the same, only lake Perris and pudding stone that allow but not sure now.

man that sucks, those are places I was planning on taking my kayak and now I cannot.

california, the land of the fruits, the nuts, the extreme wealthy, and the poor. 

To be fair, these reservoirs were created to store drinking water. We are lucky we get to use them in any recreational fashion. 

Castaic lagoon and the main upper lake is a world class bass fishery that allows kayaks.

Stop whining and start driving.
