Anyone familiar with Castle Rock Lake in Wisconsin?

Featured Replies

Looking to book a week long father/son trip the last week in June and buddy found a place on this lake.  Seems like a lot of species but don't know anything about it.  Good?  Bad?  Pressured?

We will not have a boat but will have kayaks.  Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I live locally to castle rock (wisconsin rapids). The lake can be very tough to fish but if you find them it can be phenomenal. Since you will be in kayaks I would advise you to stick to the river on the north end of the lake, seems to be the highest concentration of fish up there generally. I Throw lots of black and blue out there, springtime you can be productive with rattle traps, and cranks on rocky inside river bends. Otherwise flipping into any piece of cover you find generally will work.

Thanks for the info.  I believe we are staying on the Northern end of the lake so getting closer to the river should be easier.  Thanks again!!

@derxanWe are staying about 1/4 mile North of Big Pappas Pontoon Rental.   That inlet just North.  Still recommend we hit the north side where the Wisconsin river intersects?

Yes, stick to the river.

I'm a bit north of there, but bass have been "off" so far this year.  Dunno what it is...late spawn, inconsistent weather...

But weather seems to be stabilizing, and warming, maybe you'll hit 'em coming out of it...or maybe they're further ahead down that way.
