Best all around casting rod.

Featured Replies

Hello, I currently have a 7”4 heavy action rod. I will also be getting a new spinning set up for Texas rigs and Ned rigs etc... I can only fit 3 rods in my kayak, so I’m looking for the best all around casting rod for tactics like spinnerbaits, crankbaits, chatterbaits and such. What would be the best all around height, power, and action to cover these tactics?

6'6" to 7'0" MH/F

A lot of people love the 7'2" MH Expride as a utility rod. I have one but won't get to try it out until the spring/summer. Just from handling it, it does feel like a really nice rod that would be good for multiple applications.

6'10-7'2 MH/F, would be good for Spinnerbaits/Chatterbaits.

MH/F in a length your comy with.

Put some rod holders on your crate, then you don't have to limit yourself so much.

Your bait monkey will thank you

I'm still there.

Started with 3 rods in the canoe - 2 spinners and 1 BC

Built a rod-rack prior to the second year - 3 spinners, 3 BCs

Adding a second rod rack this winter - 4 spinners, 5 BCs

It's an obsession...
