SS SV103/SV103 & SV105 Inductor Swap

Featured Replies

As many SV103 owners know, the stock SV103 spool is quite restrictive. On the other hand, I found the SV105 too be a little too free, and even going from controlled to wild in 1 click of the mag dial.

The inductor on the SV103 is about 1mm longer, and definitely thicker than the SV105, so I swapped them, and it made a world of difference. The SV103 now bomb casts, and the SV105 is more controlled.

I'm looking for people with SV103's that would like to try swapping inductors with my SV105's. I have 3 SV105's that I'd like to get swapped. PM me, I will pay for your shipping via USPS so that there is no cost to you.

Edit: It appears the Daiwa SS SV103 spool has the same inductor as the SV103.

TackleTrap sells the Zillion SVTW inductor and the R+ inductor. Both are huge upgrades over the stock sv103 inductor.

I checked the size of the Zillion SV TW inductor, it's about the same as the SV105. The SV103 inductor is definitely beefier than both, which is what I'm looking for. I'm not familiar with the R+ inductor, but ideally I'd like to just swap with someone since it'll benefit both reels (IMO).

It appears the JDM SS SV103 also has the same inductor as the SV103, so if anyone with that spool is interested in a swap, let me know!

@iabass8, I need this for my Tatula SV TW?  https://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=898_660_1136&products_id=13422. I need to get another item, might as well throw one of these in to try on one of my reels.

@Junger, if my reel has the inductor you want and Tackle Trap has the one that will make my reel cast a little better I'll mail you mine.

Countryboy, the Zillion SV TW spool won't fit into the Tatula SV TW.  Oops, saw the link was the Zillion SV TW inductor. I don't have a Tatula SV TW anymore, so I can't compared the inductors. Thanks for the offer too, but I don't think there's much you can do other than maybe to make sure the factory bearings are flushed and add thinner oil to it, but it's already a really good caster out of the box IMO.

There are also those Ray's Studio inductors that will fit thr SV spools.  They are thin and tapered.  I would apply a drop of glue to where the inductor meets the the inductor side SV ramp.  The factory Ray's adhesive has a questionable reputation.

Yep, I've tried it and while it fits the Alphas, it's still just a little wild compared to my other Alphas with the SV105 inductor.

Zillion SV TW Inductor

Hey all...

I just swapped inductors with Junger and wanted to post up a little feedback.

First - Junger - 1st class guy - so if your interested in swapping with him just do it.

Second... I have the Daiwa SS SV 103 reel... which I love but is WAY over braked - notably when using lighter lures.  Swapping the 105 rotor in from Junger really "loosened" it up quite a bit.  I lightly pitched a 1/4oz weight in my yard with the old inductor in the reel - went about 15-20 feet.  Swapped in the 105 inductor - made no changes to the brake or cast control - and pitched the same weight about 25-30 feet with same amount of effort.  On a light little whip cast - it zinged that weight a quite a distance and more importantly was accurate and straight - unlike with the stock inductor - which casts seemed to head in one direction - then when the brakes kicked in heavy would seem to pull left and drop straight down from the sky.

Of course all of the above is unscientific... but no I have doubt the reel is much easier to cast and I'm getting more distance and accuracy.

So if you have one of the infamous over braked SS SV 103 reels... make the swap - it's worth it.

  J.
