SLX XT vs Tatula 100.

Featured Replies

I've been wanting to try a tatula for a while now and I'm wondering if I should swap out my slx xt to try a tatula 100.  Anyone have any thoughts on one vs the other

Granted an extra reel is never a bad thing I dont "need" it but would like to try it haha.

To me they are at comparable price point.  Msrp is a bit off  but a I got the slx xt for 115 and the tat100 can be had for 100+tax at the moment

Any input is appreciated

I have owned both , still have the Tatula 100 , it has the extra bearings where it needs it.

The Slx xt and the Slx both got geary feeling after some extensive use. The Tat is still smooth , not to mention it bomb cast with little effort.

"Need" doesn't have much to do with it.  I currently "need" 6 more rods to match reel number....I think.  :smile11:

The Bait Monkey told me you absolutely need that Tatula.  :D  That fool animal thinks I need a Tatula Elite.  Guess he hasn't looked at my bank balance lately.

Good to know as you have experienced both sides of the fence.  Thanks for the info

That dam bait monkey gets me everytime. That's why I'm reaching out for input.  But it will likely end in me ordering in the name of science haha.

I think I’d probably like the SLX better. The tat is a bit heavy and clunky feeling. Great reel, but I’m leaning towards heavier applications with it.

I bought both for my son. He chose to keep the Tatula. Much better feeling and it freaking bombs lures! I was so impressed I ordered me one. They can be had for under $100 on fleabay as well if you check frequently.

For 100$ I feel like it's worth a try. Worst case it ends up a backup or goes on the next rod I find for a good price

Tat 100 is 6.9 oz. Not exactly heavy and clunky.

Slx xt is 7.2. so it's actually head over then the tatula it seems

They both good and you should try both.

SLX XT will cast medium to heavy weight lure better but daiwa win hand down in smoothness. Shimano is a tad smaller and more comfortable to palm for smaller hand but Tatula with MagforceZ should be easier to learn how to cast or even skip.
I still have some daiwa all alphas frame (smaller than Tatula) for lighter lure but the rest are shimano.

I currently need two more reels to match my rod count, but fortunately I need kayaks a little bit more so I'm gonna hold off. Maybe I'll get a 2020 Tatula SV or two on Black Friday this year.

I have a Porta-Bote sitting in the garage, but no longer have a vehicle to transport it to a lake.

Sounds like you need a truck...I would say that classifies as a need

It is heavy and clunky for its size and weight on thin light rods. But for heavier applications it feels more properly matched. Thats just my opinion. I also have relatively small fingers and relatively large palms.

What a difference a month makes ... picked up a Curado K for $115 last week
