Just curious what presentations you guys would say it is essential to have a fast (or extra fast) action? I understand which a moderate is best for (treble hook baits and such) but which would you saw a moderate-fast is ideal? Do jig and frog fishing (not in slop but fairly open water frogging) use the same type of action or are they just very different from each other?

Fast = single hook presentations 

Mod = treble hook presentations 

 

Frog - Most people use fast action rods.  I prefer a H/Mod rod with braid.  This slows my hook set just long enough, helping me counter my excitement that occurs everytime there's a blow up.

I would add that not all rod manufacturers power ratings/actions will be the same either.
