As if spending money on tackle wasn’t enough, I decided to go buy a new kayak. After looking at a ton of options I ended up picking the Feelfree Moken 12.5 V2. I’ve read some great things about it, now I just need some open water so I can actually use it. I’ve only moved it around my driveway and my yard so far, but I am already wondering why all fishing kayaks do not come with a wheel in the keel. It is so nice to just grab that handle on the front and wheel it around rather than picking the entire kayak up.

I know absolutely nothing about kayaks, it sure looks like a sturdy little craft.  Is this a "stand up in" model?

Those Mokens are nice fishing boats.  Check those foot pegs - it looks like they're backwards, or I'm seeing the photo wrong?

They actually have the same texture on both sides. I’m not sure the reasoning, but it does look funny in the picture.

You can stand up in them, but I tend not to. I don’t know if it’s my height at 6’4”, but I’ve just never felt overly comfortable doing so. 

You could've tested it in my yard a couple days ago.

I like the look of the mokens a lot, and would have maybe picked the moken 14 a couple of years ago, but I had wanted a raised stadium seat, and the v1 models don't have that. But it looks like you get that with v2, and at 32" wide, my guess is that will be fun to paddle. The moken 14 is 30" wide so looks to be one of the faster/better paddling fishing kayaks out there; hopefully that gets upgraded to v2 too. But my family likes to periodically announceme that I am not allowed to buy anymore fishing kayaks, so I am going to have make due with what I have now.

I was hoping to see the 14 in a V2, but not sure we are going to see that at this point. That boat would be great for longer trips where you need the speed. I fish a combination of lakes/ponds, and some narrow winding rivers in the Adirondack mountains. I think this 12.5 will be a good all around boat for that combo.
