Lew's rod question

Featured Replies

So my buddy is looking at a specific rod but has a question. He's not on here so I figured I'd ask for him.

He's looking at the Lew's TP-1 Black casting rod. The 7' medium/mod-fast version. Question is, how fast are Lew's rods? I have a deep cranking stick but that's it. Is their mod-fast really soft or is it closer to, I don't know, Dobyns version of a fast tip?

He wants it for squarebills and smaller Keitechs as well as being able to throw finesse jigs like a Bitsy Bug.I told him a 7' med-heavy/fast may be better. But he's hung up on the medium for some reason.

Thanks

I have 2 TP-1 Black, one is 7' 0" Medium Heavy Fast & the other is a 7' 4" Heavy Fast.

I have used my brothers TP-1 Speed Stick IM8 (white) 7' 0" Medium Fast.

In my opinion the med/mod/fast would give bass around any cover the advantage.

Appreciate it. That's what I figured as well but wasn't sure how soft Lew's mod-fast was. I'll pass this along. How do you like those rods?

I absolutely love Lew's rods & especially the Winn Grips!

With the TP-1 IM8 I landed some 3-4# bass while bank fishing where I had to get bass through matted grass along the bank. I could pull them though easily I just couldn't horse em.

I have 2 ea TP1B70MH Worm Rods & 1 ea TP1B74H Pitching Rod

The 7' MH are excellent worm/jig rods for weights 1/8-1/2 oz.

The 7'4" is an excellent frog rod, flipping-n-pitching rod, & Medium punch rod up to 1 oz.
