Moving on from Yamalube

Featured Replies

I had previously been using Yamalube on my reels on gears and moving parts based upon reading Alan Tani's posts regarding grease and oil. I guess I felt like "if this guy says its the best, then it must be the best". Today I decided to try Cal's Tan on gears instead of the Yamalube and WOW ... what a difference! The reel is noticeably smoother than it was before.

I've read about people complaining the stuff hardens, but I feel like that shouldn't happen within a year and by that time the grease will be changed anyways.

Anyhow, figured I would post this for anyone who like me was on the fence about trying different types of grease.

Been using Cal's for many years and have never experienced it hardening/ at least within the year it is on when I clean my reels.
