Line problem

Featured Replies

When fishing weightless senkos my line is bunching up towards the bottom of the spool. I guess from retrieving the slack line. When I reel a lure in with resistance and the line is fine, so it’s not the reel. Is there anyway to prevent this? I’m fishing 8lb mono on a stradic. I’ve never had this problem with braid, is it because mono is stiffer than braid?

See if you can take away a shim from under the spool. If you can it should help with the line bunching up at the bottom.

Or you could just use braid for senkos. That would solve the line bunching problem.

Maybe a little too much of line? Or you can prevent this by lift up the rod to remove slack before reel in.

Happens to me too, I rarely get a wind knot from it tho. I fish 6-8lb trilene xl. It normally happens in colder weather when the line becomes stiffer and more memory.

Another contributor is reel size, little spools are more prone to bunch up.

8lb shouldnt give issues. I would check shims.

That spooling can also happen when you hold the rod vertical and reel in with slack line.

Line lay is perfect when not reeling in slack

Are you holding the rod vertical when reeling in? or is the tiptop pointed horizontal, down or slightly up?

Never thought about it probably at about a 45 degree angle e
