Help: Need to make a bow mount for a hand steered Min Kota

Hey Fellas; We have a Minkota 36# transom in the back of our 2 man 12 ft aluminum row boat (vee nosed) and we just got a second one. We reversed the head so we can hand steer it up front. HOW DO WE MAKE A MOUNT FOR IT?

There is no front deck

The mount Cabelas sells is a complete waste of money. my friend Danny had it and it does not work.

A picture of the bow of the boat would be helpful. I rigged something up for my boat but I have a front deck.

I am sorry it's in storage at the lake.can't work on it or post pics until April 1

Both motorguide and seasense make a mount for less than $30.  On the other hand, a short length of 2x6 and 3 big L-corner braces will do the job cheaper, and you can get that stuff at your local hardware store.

if there is a handle on the top of the bow, bolt a 1x6 to it so it hangs out in front, then screw another to the end of up and down so its shaped like an L and reinforce it.

somethin like that

I have a 14 ft aluminum boat that has the v front.  I just bolted on a piece of 2x4 to the upper side and put my motor on it.

Dude, your a mook!!

Of all people I should have to say this to!

Duct tape

I used one on the front of my boat using the existing transom mount. I sammiched' the hull on the bow with a piece of 1x3 I had laying around. It worked like a charm.

Muddy, here is a shot of my little squirt boat I built this past spring.  I never posted pictures because I was taking that vacation from the forum here.   ;)

I built that up off the front bench seat though it could've been done without it.  In your case if you had a smaller little deck put on all you'd need is a stout piece of angle iron bent at 90 degrees and bolted through the deck.

If you could get your hands on some big Alum angle iron and drill 2 holes through them for bolts. You could then sandwich the two halves together over the bow( possibly between some thin rubber) just like a large wood workers clamp, then mount a transom mount trolling motor. I used a rig like this for years when I was a teen.
