Reel Oil

Featured Replies

Hey guys

This might be a silly question, but I was doing some reel maintenance today on a few of my reels and this question ran through my mind. Does reel oil harm/damage fishing line? On these reels I have braid on them to be specific. I was'nt doing any deep cleaning, so nothing was dissambled, I was just applying reel cleaner first then some drops of oil on the worm gear, brakes, the guide, etc. If some of the reel oil was to drop on the line itself, would any harm come out of that?

Thanks guys

No you’re fine especially on braid.  Some line conditioners use oil and solvents. I don’t care for them personally though.

Thanks DVT!
