Rapala DT-6 Shad Color

Featured Replies

What Shad pattern Rapala DT-6 have you had the most success with or is your favorite? The main ones I see fished are Disco Shad, Pearl Grey Shiner, and  Penguin.

This applies to all my Rapala cranks - not just the DT-6. Best luck has been with the 'natural' patterns - bluegill, perch, baby bass, etc. Colors that match or are close to the natural forage in the lake I fish.

I don't like alot of flash, so I tend to use the old school pearl and black, and then the helinksi shad I think its called. Has some chart and purple in it....

I actually like all Rapala colors. I just carry 2 shad patterns, one craw, one firetiger....I never got into the special colors they have in BPS. Just buy them at Dicks which has the main ones you need.

I usually add a few dots or lines on most of my solid color cranks to make them look more natural. Just use a black sharpie.

I like there hot mustard

Helsinki Shad gets tied on first. Also like Caribbean Shad.

Fire Tiger gets some play too.

Brown Crawdad in the later winter/early spring.

These, and any red during prespawn for SMB works for me.

Live river shad and the Iconelli green "Smash" are my fav's, just got a Helsinki shad, a color that is very good on other SMB lures in clear water.
