Seaguar finesse fluorocarbon

Featured Replies

Does anybody use this as main line on spinning reel?
How are your thoughts and experiences with it ?
Is it worth trying?

I use 6.2 for spinning.  It's excellent line, better than Invisx, and about as good as Tatsu.

Thanx.

Did you notice it's thinner then other lines same lb?

Yes, it fishes like 4# line.

Compare to which line? I have 5.2lb (.0065”) Finesse compare to the closest 6lb (.007) Red label they are about the same diameter, smaller but not much different. I can’t speak of strength or how it fish since I haven’t spool it yet.

I mean compare 5 to 5,2  6 to 6,2.

Just go up to the site and compare diameters:

Spoiler alert, finesse is smaller.  That said, the break strength is pretty close to the stated size.  5.2 Finesse and 4 Invisx are .165 mm.  They both break a little north of 5 lbs. using a well tied knot.

Also note, turns out I'm using 5.2, not 6.2.  The 6.2 boxes are unopened, whereas there a few almost empty spools of 5.2. My apologies!

Yeah you should compare line from same brand especially from Japan to get a close to realistic. The 6lb red rebel and 5.2lb finesse is about the same as 4lb line from other brands especially those one from USA or China made. 12lb Abrazx is a lot smaller than 12lb Yozuri  Topknot, 12lb Berkley Vanish or 10lb FloroClear even though they are advertised the same diameter.

For years, we've been using Seaguar fishing lines without a single failure. I was skeptical about Fluoro Finesse, but man it works well. In an age where quality is often an afterthought, Seaguar is not dropping its standards! Thank you Seaguar!

Is this line no longer in production or is it really just sold out everywhere?

  • Super User

It's been discontinued. The closest thing to it is Tatsu, which suits me fine.
