Shoreline Boots

Featured Replies

I have been looking into getting a pair of "general duty" waterproof/rubber boots and was looking for some opinions.

Only brand I have really seen that caught my eye were Much boots- but they have so many different styles/weights I was a bit lost- I would be using these for early spring through late fall

Looking for options

TIA

Unless you're worried about fashion, try Servus, Tingley, Dunlop or even CLC. Cheap and serviceable.    jj

I wear Muck Rangers. One of their lower end boots that's waterproof and light enough to walk in.

I haven't been able to find anything that beats Muck boots for comfort. Try to find a store with a decent selection and make the trip to get a feel for what your wanting weight wise. The thicker sole (traditional boot look) is far more comfortable than the thinner one, but the thinner one isn't bad. Turning down the neoprene tops until needed also helps comfort and mobility.

I wear Muck Fieldblazers on shore and early season in kayak. They double as my rubber hunting boots as well. Can't beat them.

In January I bought a pair of Cabela brand boots that are basically a knockoff from Muck's.  They were around $50-60.  So far, so good, except the insoles could stand to be replaced.  I wore them a few times ice fishing, a lot around the yard doing chores when it has been muddy, and shoreline fishing quite a few times now.

I will say that they are really warm on the feet when it gets above 60 degrees, though.  Probably not the best mid-summer option for bogging around.

Servus makes a good rubber boot. It's used a lot in the meat packing industry.

I wear leather boots because we have snakes around here, especially around the waters edge.
