New Lews tournament mp

Man I’m having a hell of a time dialing in this reel for my buzzbait. The dual brake is throwing me off I’m used to centrifugal or magnetic not both lol.

How many brake tabs do you have engaged? Spool tension setting?

P.S. Is the brake ring over lubed/greased?

I ran my MB with 1 centrifugal and very little magnetic. Might have been on zero

3 brakes on spool tension has just barely side to side play. I’m sure it’s just the dam bait when it goes straight it flies. But when it tumbles it over runs.

Mine was touchy out of the box but once dialed in I can cast a country mile without worry of backlash.

So the bait is catching air. I know, it's like a badge of honor to run with zero spool tension, but just add a touch. Nobody will know and you'll stop blowing up.

its easy. if you fluff up at the beginning of the cast you need more centrifugal brake. if you fluff up in the middle turn up the magnets. set the spool tension so the lure drops slowly with rod straight out.loosen spool tension when your thumb gets educated.

My thumb is very educated ive been using baitcasters for 30 years. Previously I was using a bb1 with no problems I switched to this reel for a different gear ratio.

ok so leave tension loose and adjust centrifugal for beginning fluff and magnets for middle of cast. centrifugal backs down as spool slows.or trade it for a tournament pro with externally adjustable brakes.

All dialed in I removed and flushed and relubed the bearings last night. Went out today for a few hours and after about 5 minutes everything came together.

As the oil flows out of the bearings it will become nessacary to use more brakes or thumb.
