CHRONARCH MGL,gloomisE6X -combo

Featured Replies

looking to pair my 6:2-1 gear ratio chronarch MLG with a loomis e6x jig and worm rod .Any suggestions on length and power ? was thinking 7'1" med heavy or 6"8" med. thanks

Depends on what size jigs you plan on throwing but I would go with the mh.     I also think there are better rods than the e6x at that price point.

E6X is a good rod but the $200 rod market has a lot of options. St Croix Avid X, Phenix Feather, Phenix M1, Phenix Recon Elite, E6x, Daiwa Tatula Elite and the Daiwa Rebellion are IMO the best for the price. Ark is also building great rods at the price. The only rod companies I don't buy rods from are Dobyns, Duckett, Kistler. Goodluck buddy!

E6X is a fine rod w/ a great warranty. I would go with a 7'-1" for the added length. Will look awesome with that reel too.

Heck, I have my Chronarch MGL 8.1:1 on a plain ol BPS Carbonlite 2.0 7' MH fast tip and use it for everything and it does a fine job.  $99 on sale.

Really depends what all you plan on doing with it, but a 7'1" MH is about as versatile as you can get. E6X rods didn't have much of a wow factor for me, but they're well-built, solid rods. Made in the USA with a good warranty as well.

The 7'1" MH JWR is a great rod. Very versatile, with a great taper. I have a 6'8" JWR M rod, it's also very versatile but for lighter applications in less cover. You will dig your new rod.

Ignore the e6x haters. Once you actually fish with it, you will see how nice they are.

Zero experience with GLoomis...other than a fly rod...but I almost always suggest investing in a rod or reel that interests you.  You will always wonder 'what if' if you let others change your mind.  Congrats on the new rod.  I feel certain you will enjoy it.  If not, you could always sell it to me at half price.  :lol1:

I'd add the Falcon Expert to that list.

Zodias rods are great as well, they look and feel great.
