I have a Tatula R  that I recently bought my co angler thought it was cute to cast forward when I cast I hit his rod got a monster backlash. After clearing the backlash  now the cast control will not tighten up so I cant adjust the cast control. Any ideas as to why?

Did you have to cut some line out?  Did you get any bits of line stuck between the spool and the inside of the reel's frame?  I've had that happen before.  It cause all kinds of weirdness until you open it up and clean it out.  

 

Can you unscrew the cast control?  Maybe there's some debris around the threads that are preventing it from tightening.  If you can unscrew it off, you might try cleaning the threads to make sure there's nothing in there to jam them up. 

 

I could be any number of things, but those are the first two that come to my mind.

There’s some coincidence here. Merely getting a backlash won’t damage your tension knob.

When you were clearing the backlash did you take the cast control knob off?  It's possible the metal back piece fell out if you did.

Can you strip the line off and break it down carefully and look at it?   It may be something simple.
