So I’m heading to Kittery this weekend.

Featured Replies

Never had any Diawa gear. So I’m looking to try some out. There’s a hole in my arsenal that this rod will fill nicely. My question is about the reel. I was gonna use this rod for my bigger jigs and some of my 1- 1-1/4 ounce baits. Is the tat sv good with that, everything I’ve read so far says how good it is with lighter baits. Love to hear your opinions. Thanks.

Definitely get your hands on the reel in the store to see if you like it, but you can find it for at least $20 bucks cheaper than that $200 price.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, I know I’m gonna pay full retail plus tax. I’m headed there so if I like them I’m just gonna buy them. I would much rather pay a little more, and support the local economy.

If $20 means I take it home right now. That’s fine.

Touch and feel is worth the few extra dollars IMO.

Daiwa rods are difficult to evaluate without picking them up and checking out the action.

I want to second the grease comment. Definitely worth opening them up if you're handy. Both my SV and Elite felt real dry after a month or so of use.

Worth getting your hands on the Elites too if they have them out. Well worth the extra $50.

The rods are awesome. I have multiple of the Elite and Elite AGS. Tatula SV was good, but not great, to me. I much prefer the Tatula Elite Long Cast, and now own three. SV was overbraked for my tastes. All of them have required some extra lubrication. Daiwa factory must be rationing grease. Once they're cleaned and greased, smooth as can be.

Ugh...I love the kittery trading post. I’ve been going to that place since I was a little kid

Me also, went a few times with parents as a kid. Discovered the fishing debt last year. Cool place.
