Drop shot

Featured Replies

Hey everyone - I'm trying to learn how to be successful at using a drop shot and am looking for some help.  I have my Medium Light setup with a 1/4 ounce cylinder weight, 2/0 hook, and have plenty of small drop shot baits.

My question is, I do not have the best graphs, and am wondering how to be successful without upgrading the graphs.  Do I just toss is out and slowly reel/drag it back? Should I be using it predominantly on weed lines or ledges?

Any helps appreciated !!

If you fish Lk Erie at all drift and drag works well out there. Personally I think a 2/0 hook is more than you need. I use a size 1 hook and nose hook my baits.

It seems that you're asking about Location and Presentation, which is a pretty tall order  ?

When it comes to 'location', there's no shortcut. Aside from the angler's gray matter,

the most important tools are the 'lake card' and 'sonar unit'. Before I'd wet a line,

I'd purchase the best lake card available (bathymetric chip) with the highest definition.

I'd also learn to decipher the sonar readings, both from literature and on the water.
