Looking for boat replacement!

Featured Replies

Hi Folks, Had to sell my Tracker 165 w/ 40 merc 4 stroke, due to divorce and am looking forward to getting another boat. I've just about decided I want one at least 19' with enough motor to get it on plane quickly then run economically. Loved the little 165, as I used it for some small pond fishing and local water reservoirs, and plan on using the new one for the same so have to stay 20 ft. or less. Only problem with the 165 was it was a little cramped and I can't get around that well in such a small boat. Am leaning toward the Tracker again, as I feel they are a good buy for the money, lighter, easier to tow & maintain, and cheaper than f'glas. Am also looking at the nitro's from BPS. Would just like any input you guys might provide as there is much wisdom out there. Would like all suggestions as to boat, motor, equipment I can't live without, etc. And thank all you guys for your input. This forum has been a Godsend to me, since I'm a disabled vet and don't get to fish a lot, but when I'm not fishing I'm studying the forums! Keep up the good work you guys! God Bless!

I would go with Aluminum.

Less motor to plane it out, Cost, and you can spend more time on the water fishing instead of worrying about every little scratch in your gel coat.

Just my two or three cents

Xpress :)

I have a friend with an 18' Xpress.  It has large livewells, large rod lockers, a large storage between the rod lockers and lifts and rides like a fiberglass boat.

He has a 115 four stroke Yammy on it.  That thing will run better than 50 mph and only uses a smidgen of gasoline each trip.

G3's have wooden decks :)

Thanks Catt, I didn't know that and wouldn't have suggested it if I did. My alternate suggestion would be a Fisher- I know they have aluminum decks- my first two bass boats were Fishers. For the best high speed performance, the Express would be the best choice.

The most annoying thing for me when checking out aluminum bass boats is the lack if true dry storage. Some have it and some don't.

Aluminum!!!

You dont have to worry about messing it up!!!

Thanks for all the input guys.  I'm pretty well sold on the tracker, UNLESS I can get a real steal on a fiberglass one fully outfitted.  At least I have time on my side and I can take my time and wait for just the right opportunity.  Thanks again for all the help!
