I don’t understand...

Featured Replies

I’ve read and watched many YouTube video on how much distance you lose when going up from 10 to 20lb braid.

I finally switched one reel from 20lb up to 50lb (both standard Powerpro) , same rod/reel . Tested with same frog . Dialed in and see no lose of distance. Took to local spot where I know my max distance bombing.. hitting same spot . No change in effort to achieve it either. My understanding was I was gong to lose a lot of distance.

Go to a local football field and cast your frog to determine how far you can cast.

Point of topic is I thought I would lose casting distance going “from” 20lb to 50lb and I did not..

What BaitFinesse posted answered summed it up for me,, something as heavy as a frog , weight of line doesn’t deter as much.

Does a couple of yards of distance matter?

I use whatever lb test meets my needs for the lure, conditions.  Casting distance doesn't come into play in my decision making.

Temper everything you read especially on the net. Seems to me even assertions with a grain of truth are routinely exaggerated. Casting is affected by the baits weight and profile, rod, reel, line, guide train, technique and I’m probably missing something but you get the idea. There’s no magic pill or cure all.

I fully trust DVT but hope that my results in switching help me gain some distance ... i got a new spool of 10lb yzh and a new curado k spool headed my way to downsize from 15lb

Not at all, more of a curiosity thing since I've seen so much on how much I would lose.. now I will say when frogging cast distance does come into play at times "for Me".
