Was knocking around the idea of using these in craw colors on chatterbaits and swim jigs as a crawdad imitator. Primarily due to the fact that many craw type trailers are hard to get right now in the colors I would want. Is the profile really that important on faster moving baits?

I wouldn't over-invest in any color or any pattern, but a boot-tail (aka paddle-tail) 

is definitely a highly productive tail action. Yeah, I think bass can discern overall profile,

faster than we can retrieve any lure (i.e. Regardless of reel ratio)  ?

Some days I notice the fish are particular to size and profile, other days it’s a certain color, and sometimes they want a specific type of action. We got on a good jig bite one day and my buddy ran out of of black trailers, so he put a black senko on a craw jig and kept the bite going all day. Why wouldn’t a boot tail work?? Many guys often use craw trailers on swim jigs....?‍♂️

Just remember that whatever you put on a chatterbait you do not want it to compete with the purpose of the chatter bait, but to complement it.  With regard to using a boot tail trailer, a large Keitec with the tail down will not not end up performing that way, but will will go tail up as a result to the chatter bait action, so it is best mounted it upside down to maintain the correct trailer action.  An A-Walker size 100 is a good boot tail for a chatter bait since it is stiffer and provides a good complementing action.
