Seems like an aftermarket prop might be more expensive than an OEM prop.  I bought a used prop years ago, to get me by while my good prop was being cupped and polished, and that became my spare.  You might even be able to pick up an aluminum prop as a spare.  Stainless are heavy.

^^^^^this.

Buy an aluminum for emergencies

A lot of the larger dealers keep usually have a pretty good assortment of used props.  Might want to check around for something like that.

If you have a prop repair shop close by, the will sometimes have reconditioned props for sale

Weight wise, aluminum props are good spares.  Since about all I run is SS props, that's what my spare is also, got bunches of those so can't see buying an aluminum just for a spare.

from i've seen the OEM prop are higher than aftermarket ones for this motor, just seeing what brand everybody recommended

Prop shop is usually the best place to start. They end up with repaired props the owners never pay for and willing to recover labor cost.

I’ve only had Mercs, that is the only brand I’ve used. I had Mark Croxten work one of my props - repair and cup - and he does great work.

I agree on the prop shop look.  I bought my yammie used stainlesss from a prop shop and he cupped it for free.

Used props are all over the web and Craigs List.

I carry a 25P Yamaha M for my 200 SHO.

Not the prop I would want to run, but would get me home.

Tempest's are all over the place and pretty cheap.  Get a Yamaha hub and away you go.

I live on the other side of the fence ok this one. Buy the best prop you can and either make your current the spare, or when the current goes, you’ll have a true replacement ready.
