Hey all!!! Like I said I’m a rookie. Trying to start me a lure collection. Here’s what I got. Where, how, and when do I fish ‘em?

Looks like you picked up some Ozark Trail lures from Wal-Mart. I think they are very underrated. 

 

Squarebills- typically at structure, laydowns 

 

Crankbait- usually in 4-6ft of water

 

Poppers- normally in the early morning late evening 

 

Lipless- great in grass, the idea is to rip it and when the lure rips free, it triggers a reaction strike

 

Buzzbait- I like to run a buzzbait along the shoreline (parallel)...if you can get a trailer hook. Run it along side lily pads. 

 

The cranks can either be used in shallow water, or over the top of submerged weeds. The lipless can be fished anywhere in the water column by allowing it to sink however long it takes.  With cranks, as with most baits, avoid a steady retrieve. Short pauses or using the rod tip to impart a short burst of speed will get you bit more often.  
The buzzer shines anytime of day over cover, timber/grass as does the popper. Early and late in the day are prime times, but don’t rule out shady spots during mid-day.

Well, you've got two baits in the upper-water column category and two in the shallow to mid-range.  The red-eye shad can be fished at most depths (except the surface).  The KVD will cover the upper water column nicely.  You might get a few deep divers (shallow angle/long lips). I don't see any soft plastics.  Don't forget worms and crawdad imitators.

Oh, the soft plastics are next. Just have to figure out the Carolina and Texas....is it rig or jig?
