Pflueger Supreme Spinning Reel

Featured Replies

been looking for a new spinning reel something light, I see Pflueger Supreme 30 Spinning Reel, drag specs seem light, any comments on this reel or possible something more fisherman prefer over the Pflueger especially for 105 dollars. any better choices i would like to stay in the 8oz weight range

killer reel. For the price you won't find better. Smooth and reliable. The silver looks great on all rods too which is also a plus.

I have one, fished it for about a year, very fine reel.  It has an anti-reverse switch, which I like.  Not all reels have them and the manufacturers are not making it clear when their reels don't have one.  Very smooth, drag is adequate for anything I'm doing.  I wouldn't hesitate to use it for bones, reds, or cudas.

I haven't found an issue with my Trion-30 which also has 10# drag max. Unless you're hauling in DD bass, should be more than enough. Realize that the 30 size for Pflueger is close to 2500 size for everyone else. Compare to the Shimano Sedona 2500 which has 9# max drag.

I fish Supremes and will tell you the Supreme XT carbon disc drag is worth the upgrade

HI OE

i like all the specs on the supreme XT 3000 weight and gear ratio, it was the drag specs that made me skeptical. might shop around for one.

great reels. zero issues out of them. the one on the st croix is a little more than 5 years old, the one on the genesis is maybe a year. regular president is also a very solid choice if you want to save about 30 bucks.

They are great reels. I have 2 size 30 that are 5+ years old, and still working well.

Drags are very smooth on them.

Excuse me if I'm not reading your post correctly... your original post referred to the Supreme spinning reel which is not the same as a Supreme XT spinning reel.  The XT model has a better drag than the non-XT model and costs $50 more than the Supreme.

I use the Supreme, not the XT, and mine is in its second year, used a lot.  It's on a 7 foot Point Blank, and the combination is excellent.  No drag problems.  In January I caught a 45 inch cuda on another  reel with a 12 pound max drag, so I think the max drag of the Supreme for most fresh water critters is fine.  For $100 you would not be risking much.  I don't think you'll find a better reel for that $$.  If you want to up another $50, even better.

I see now that the XT is around $150 plus. so that brings up another question, really do now want to spend that, i just might settle for a supreme 30 for $104 any other light reels that will compete with this supreme xt 30 for less money.

In my opinion, the carbon disc drag is the only upgrade worthy of more money between the Supreme & Supreme XT...
