Boat back to 100%, thanks for the help!

Featured Replies

It's an old boat, built in 1960...and the Merc is a 1974 20HP. Decided to get it out and running again this summer...

Wheel bearing needed replacing...I've owned this boat / motor / trailer set up since 2000. Installed bearing buddies and never replace or replacked them...just filled the buddies and ran. Little soupy in there, but just slight scaring.

Replaced plugs...and the engine fired...but no water out of the pump...

Hell of a time getting the lower unit off...and then getting the water impeller off....but thanks to the great wisdom here and a few Youtube videos...and it worked!

Then the trolling motor housing broke and I was unable to rotate my motor. Google search and I had new parts on the way. That was a little less difficult...

Had it out on Saturday and everything worked! Thanks to all for the words of wisdom.

Had to make one small fix today...the mechanism that locks the motor from tilting when it's in neutral and reverse was not working. Got it fixed today, and greased up the shift linkage. All good to go. Will have it on the water again tomorrow morning @ 5:30 AM : )
