Looking for opinions or uses for an MBR784C Glx.  This is an older rod and I have an opportunity to buy a real nice used. I bet its 15 years old anyhow. I don’t need it really but love my MBR783C that I have already. So this one has grabbed my interest and it is a cool old rod.  I fish mostly smb so probably not too useful for that but thought it could cross over for northerns or light musky. Maybe frogs etc the odd time I do target LMB.  Anyhow it’s not a model made anymore so not much info around on it. Anyone have any experience or preferred used for this rod?

I spent a little while try to hunt one down to use as a jig rod for my kayak. They have a very very rarely seem to come up for sale, on forums or on eBay. So I don’t know if that’s a matter of them not having been very common or people just not wanting to ever get rid of them. 

I have the 783C as well and the 844C.  If you can find a good deal on a 784C, I would grab it.  

 

I picked up my 783C about 15+ years ago and I loved it so much I wanted the 784C but I picked up the 844C instead.   I would use it for jigs, heavier jerkbaits and topwater.

I am also really interested in the cr724, but it seems even more rare then the 784c. 

I have MBR784C IMX from the same generation as the GLX you refer to. It is listed as a H, but it is more of a MH. I use it for jigs and worms mostly, but will  also use it for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and heavier underspins/keel weighted swim baits.
