Jerkbaits

Featured Replies

Anybody have good luck with jerkbaits? I have a Husky Jerk Perch colored and I'm going to try it out.

Jerkbaits are by far my number one producing lure in the Spring.  I personally like (and only throw) the Lucky Craft Pointer 100SP.  I assume the husky jerk will work also.  Just remember to vary your jerks and pauses.  I've caught fish one day on aggressive jerks and very short pauses and the next day in the very same spot, they would only hit the lure after a long pause.  Good luck.

Jerkbaits are my favorite class of lures. I like to fish them in low light or at night on and around structure. My most productive jerkbait fishing has been on steep sloping, rocky points surrounded by deep water. The challenge is finding a cadence that works, but the key to success is the pause. Allow the bait to come to a COMPLETE pause on slack line between jerks.

JERK BAIT FISHIN IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!! the most productive jerk bait i think there is gonna be the RAPALA X-RAP 8-) fishin it over rocky bottoms or thrownin at the face of shallow weed beds is my most productive places fishin a jerk bait's......

pointers are one badazz jerkbait, i only use them in colder weather  but sometimes i throw them when its warmer.  if the waters over 75degrees i find theres no need to pause the bait at all

RW, you really should post a detailed message on your after dark fishing tactics with jerkbaits.  You are the only guy I have ever heard of using these at night on a regualr basis with success.

Maybe it's the lake, but may be it's the master!   ;)

Yep, they even work in summer with a straight retrieve and the odd jerk.

X-rap.  Right in the prespawn I like them.  Run it 3 or so feet from a Christmas tree just below the surface, and the spots kill it.
