Daiwa SS SV drag star

Featured Replies

I'm looking to see where I can get a larger drag star for my SS SV? Which other Daiwa models have the larger screw on drag star I can possibly order for it?

Thank you

Zaion drag star should work, I use the one from Air stream Custom (screw type) and if I remember correctly my old Alphas Air also come with screw type.

If you gonna order parts in US, you might have to get Zaion drag star from old Tatula ct type r, but make sure to order nut and spring since those are not screw. I’m not sure about other models, those are the one I had.

Tackletrap has the zaion drag star , larger metal sv103/morethan styles and the slp colored ones. Both are larger than the stock sssv. I prefer the spring/nut loaded drag stars over the screw on. You can use either.

Oh I can use either?? Does TT sell all the parts for the spring loaded? What should I search? Thank you

Yes, you can use either one. If you use the screw on just make sure you get the right orientation obviously for whatever side rail you use. If you get a universal one, you’ll need the spring that goes underneath it and the nut that screws onto the driveshaft and the spring sits on top of that. I don’t know if they have it on their site, but if you call them I guarantee Bryan has a fair share of them laying around He could sell you or at the very least get them for you. I would just give them a call. They’re very very nice people

I'd be happy with just the cheap ones off the new Tatula SV

I’m not sure if 2020 is a Zaion drag star but for sure old Tatula SV is Zaion. Different? Maybe just those white lettering and not cheap looking plastic that come with SS SV. I switched mine not because of that though, I fish one hand a lot and SS SV is the largest reel I have. I need new drag star to be able to spin handle with holding hand.

It doesn't say anything on it, I actually just got it today. Seems similar, best bet would be to contact Daiwa for those parts I bet right?

You call daiwa directly and give them part number. I hate ordering parts from Daiwa because of this. Shimano is so easy you can order online with price shown.

If you want Zaion with white lettering, get the one from old tat Sv. Here is part#. While you at it, might as well order another washer #87. I’ve heard it improve a little bit of drag. Again please don’t quote me, I have limited experience with Daiwa reels.

Awesome yeah I can understand calling and it being a pain. That's what's I did when I owned Abu reels. I appreciate you giving the tip with the washer. I actually found a guy in eBay and I have one on the way. I was thinking of doing that already to see if it improved the drag pressure! Thanks for the tip and the schematic!!

Hold on I think I give you the wrong parts this one for left hand side.

I called Daiwa and ordered the star drag, spring, and nut.... Washer is in back order!! You think if I make a post anyone will have one they'd want to sell?  Oh, it was 13 bucks with shipping but bad at all

which washer? you only need the 2 concave washers + 1 flat washer under the nut. Adding additional washers is only necessary if you want to increase drag pressure. pretty rare to have to do that but i have a couple with additional washers. you can honestly go to the hardware store and find them. They aren't anything special. they vary in thickness like handle shims.

There's a washer that sits on top of those concave washers below the nut that holds the spring. That's washer I ordered

i have spares of the nut/spring/washers. daiwa often sends it /w the order even if they say it's on backorder. if they short you, let me know and i'll send you a couple. i have a handful of them.

Daiwa did send the spring with the order! I also ordered three 3 parts from TT which the star drag had white lettering on and I think I like better. Anyways. Now I have backups. I appreciate your help and generosity. Thank you

Hey I did get the drag star and washer but no spring. Is there any way I can still take you up on your offer??
