I just can't find the bass this fall in my local pond

Featured Replies

I've fished every inch of structure with what seems like every lure in my arsenal and I just can't find a single bite in a local private pond. Ive had plenty of luck in the past with the spot, but this fall I've yet to see a single bass, let alone land one. Its a small pond with pretty murky water and I've had a lot of luck in the past with topwater, mainly buzzing frogs, large poppers and chuggers, but I used to catch just as many with large profile spinnerbaits, shallow crank-baits, and senkos. I caught pass in the pre-spawn here earlier this year and while I guess its possible that something could have happened to the population, the pond has never had trouble with an overpopulation of sunfish nor any large fish kills that i'm aware of. I'd really appreciate any one who could provide some advice or any insight on my situation.

Kent, have ever been skunked? I've tried your trick in the past, but without much success. Perhaps I was counting too fast, I don't know. I'm probably the most impatient guy I know, and that might be the problem right there. LOL

Yes, of course I get skunked occasionally and I don't fish Senkos exclusively either.

"The Guarantee" was specifically meant for bank and pond fishermen and water less

than 10' deep. I have never fished this bait weighted and I don't fish it wacky rigged.

There are at least a thousand ways to skin a cat, mine is just one that is generally

successful.
