Garmin 93 SV removing from boat quick connect cradle

Featured Replies

I just got a Garmin 93sv UHD and it has a removeable feature with connection pins. Anyone have problems with these over time? I remember the old car radio head units that had removable faceplates and would eventually have connection problems. Just wondering if it's safe to use this feature or just leave it alone.

I've got a 93sv and a 73sv and I've took them off every trip for well over 2 years with no problems with them what so ever.  One of the reasons I bought them. Love how much easier it is than having to hook up wires etc. Id toss your worries aside and enjoy them!

I’ve had my Echomap units for almost two years now and remove them every trip and have yet to have an issue. Dielectric grease has been recommended by Garmin so it might not be a bad idea.

Times two on dielectric grease. Done on all the plugs and on head unit sockets.

I have a couple Echomap Ultra 12's on my boat and have had 1 mount have a connection fail and one break in VERY rough water.  Both times Garmin replaced immediately.  They were under warranty and they overnighted them to me.  I know it's  a weak point, but Garmin has been great with customer service and they aren't too expensive to have a spare.
