Techniques Where FC Main Line Is A Must ?

*Curious if you were using a 50 yard top shot of FC line with mono backing and still finding line management  issues ?

Nope straight fluoro. Don't get me wrong I liked it. But I'm not so advanced in my casting that I can expect to go months without a backlash. So when inevitably I got a kink in the line 20 yards into the spool, well now I had to trash 20 yards of line. Doing that twice meant a new spool of line. I just couldn't justify it when braid to leader had always been good to me.

  • Stretch and invisibility are not major selling points for using FC line for me.  It sinks, is dense, transmits bites well, knots well, manageability, lasts for YEARS, and is made with precision are.

I don't think I can afford to spool with FC. Most of my fishing is shallow and I use braid to FC leader the most.

I skip with all my outfits but my primary jig skipping rod is wearing mono. I'm pretty good at it but I'm fearless so stuff happens. LOL and I can afford it with mono...even braid usually survives.

Just yesterday I game my son a lesson in skipping a jig on the lawn. My backlashes came out easy, usually with another cast but he had some real monsters. The line is NOT in good shape but it won't cost much to replace.

I'm not saying that FC isn't any good. It's just one item in a long list of things I have to do without.
