Dobyn’s Champion Fred Roumbanis rods

Featured Replies

I just picked up a Dobyn’s Champion Fred Roumbanis ‘utility rod’ 703c on a whim. I haven’t been able to find too much out there to read about it and now I’m second guessing myself.  It’s still got the tags on it, so I can return it if I made a mistake.

Anyone have experience with this rod? My planned use is for a general purpose rod - mostly light jigs and tx rigs from the bank of local ponds, but the plan is for it to be used for a little bit of everything.

That series is for all purposes a Champion 703C split grip with some cosmetic changes.  The 703 makes a very good all round rod and should do well for your needs.

To be fair and transparent, all Champions are on sale at TW right now. If you paid full MSRP for the Roumbanis you can return it and just order a Champion at 30 percent off and save a bunch.  It’s your option. It could free up seventy five bucks.??

Thanks for the info.  I got it on sale locally for about the same amount off so I’m safe there. I appreciate your input!

I dont think there's anything wrong with those rods.  Havent heard a negative thing about them.  Roumbanis is a good fisherman, if he had some insight in making those rods with dobyns you woo be in good shape.
