Beefcake 3/0?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a 30 degree, vertical hook eye, 3/0 jig hook that's built for punching. Any recommendations from the jig makers? I did some searching on the usual sites but the information is a little scarce on what is actually heavy wire for this application.

Owner Twist lock Open Gap worm hook!!! 3X forged shank and a 30 degree bend. If you want it to pour in a mold simply take the screw lock off. The heaviest 30 degree hook you'll get specifically for a jig is the Mustad 32850 but it has a sickle style bend which isn't ideal for punching.

That's a great idea! Thanks!!

This is probably the hook you want? If you want a couple to try I can send some.

Glad you got the beefcake reference, lol. Well, if you have some already then that saves me a step. I was thinking those could go into the bluegill heads I'm sending you. Both heads were designed around a 30 degree.

I should be able to cast those as is depending on how tough the material is? I would move the collar and barb up though. You want more weight below the hook to keel it. As it the bait could roll easily besides the weedguard could be moved.

I think there's more weight below but I can modify if you don't think so. The material is pretty hard, it's resin.

Its not hard for me to move the placement of the ball and collar. Weedguard is even easier to reposition in a silicone mold. What do you think that thing is going to weigh?

Based on my calculations, the bigger one is 7/16 and the smaller is 1/4.

I'll compare the volumes of the top half vs the bottom half to see if it is imbalanced.

That hook isn't going to cut it for what he wants. That hook is on par with the Mustad 32886 and the Eagle Claw 3886. They are all swim jig hooks but Mustad lists the 32886 as a "light flipping hook", that isn't anywhere close to punching.
