kdubracing
I have family we will be visiting in Sacrament this summer. I would like to take a little one somewhere we can throw a Barbie rod and worm and catch some bluegill. Are there any good places we could go to catch a bunch of panfish? Also, I will likely be taking one day to get a guide on Clear Lake. Who are some good bass guides I can look in to?
jbass
I would recommend Ross England's Clear Lake Guide Service. However I would make an appointment as soon as possible because his calendar does fill quickly! As far as bluegill fishing, the county park, the State park has areas that are fishable from the bank.... Have fun...
Super User WRB Posted February 7, 2021 Super User Share Posted February 7, 2021 Clear Lake is a 2 hour 1 way drive from Sacramento. You will be in the Northeast region of the Delta, 45 minute drive to the Foothill lakes along hwy 49. Fishing opportunities are limitless. The key word is summer. Clear Lake is a excellent before June, June & July the algae blooms can be a problem. Tom
FrankN209
The Sacramento river is right there. Follow 160 south and there is a lot of places to fish. Especially for bluegill and sunfish.
kdubracing
I saw the river, but wasn't sure if it would be ok fishing or not. I know nothing about where to fish and the family we will be visiting do not fish. They would have no clue either.
Super User WRB Posted February 8, 2021 Super User Share Posted February 8, 2021 Sacramento River is a major river with ship traffic, not your normal river. Just look up bass fishing within 30 miles of Sacramento. Folsom lake has decent bass, bluegill and crappie fishing and the San Juqiane Delta has 1500 miles of bass, bluegill, crapper, striper, salmon world class fishery within 30 miles. I strongly recommend researching hwy 49 the gold rush trail and foothill hill lakes for a world class family outing. Tom

kdubracing
I'm not looking to bass fish around Sacramento. I just want a little public pond or smaller lake or something we can take a small child out for a couple of hours to throw out a bobber for some bluegill. One of the days of my trip, my son and I will head to Clear Lake and go out with a guide for the day. That will be our bass fishing.
