I remember my grandfather buying this for me at Caldor in the 90s when I was a kid. My project will be to clean it up on my next day off work. Cant believe this still exists. It was in a garage that leaked so all the stuff in it was destroyed pretty much and a lot of rust but I think it will clean up OK. I used this from the mid 90s to around 2000 when I stopped fishing until this past summer. I cant wait to use this seems the new boxes I got are too weak to sit on. This thing I can stand on it and jump and not hurt it. 

That's neat!  I would suggest getting rid of all hooks/metal and look into storage boxes that help to prevent rust.  Personally I use Plano Rustrictor boxes but you'll find many helpful options if you look.

Great find. PB Blaster will clean some of that stuff up. Let it soak in good. Put it in the man cave. Hope it brings back some good memories. 

My father in law gave me one of those last summer. I need to go through it and clean it up as well. I love older hard sided boxes. We need a thread of yesteryears tackle boxes.

To quote Bankbeater - "That's Cool ".  I'd maybe as an exclamation point or two.  Never knew that Rubbermaid was in the tackle box business.   If that was mine, I'd never, ever fish with it again.  I'd clean it up and keep it in my office, fill it with a variety of baits to pull out and play with when I was stumped for something to do, like a writing block or something like that.

I'd use it as a place to store spank brand new baits, before I transferred them to my fishing shed.  That is a neat toy - hope it cleans up ok.

This is a good idea and what I will be using it for. A kind of overflow box where I put new stuff I wont use right away or extras. 

 

Here it is clean up. Came out pretty good I think. It was disgusting really.

 

 

Here are the vintage stuff that was in it. My old Banjo Minnows that I begged for when I was a kid because they worked so good in the commercials. I never once got a fish on them though. Those are at least 20-25 years old.
