Hey all....I started bass fishing late last year so I was curious when is a good time to start hitting up the lakes again over here? I've been so anxious to get back out there!

How far west are we talking? Snoqualmie is getting pounded this year, so anything around there you probably can't get to for a while, but my basic rule is as long as there is no legal conflicts, if there's open water, it's a great time to be fishing.

Mid-March, my friend.  Give it a couple weeks to start warming up, and it's time to hit it.  Many lakes are open year 'round for bass fishing, but check the regs to be sure the lake you want to fish is open.

 

Seems like there's one day every year when it's like somebody flipped a switch and all the frogs start croaking all at once. It's usually early to mid March.  That is my signal to start sharpening my hooks.  Concentrate on the shallower lakes....they'll warm up (and cool down) first.  Good Luck

Puget sound WA......I like to fish Island lake out of shelton, black lake olympia, and swafford pond. I need to hit up some different lakes this year. 

American Lake, Offutt, Lake St. Clair, Clear Lake, Tanwax, Lake Kapowsin, Pattison, Silver Lake are all good lakes around there. Plenty more than that, but it's a start.

Back in the day, I know of at least one ten that came out of Limerick.

Hey all, I am from MN but moved to Seattle (Fremont) in the Fall for the lady's job and have fished my whole life, with bass fishing being a huge part of my life. I live in an apartment and do not have the garage space for my boat which is back in MN. I bought a 12-foot fishing kayak and have never kayak fished, although I have kayaked in sit-in models for a long time.

 

Rather than fight the Lake WA and Sammamish size right away, I am wondering if anyone has any smaller lakes or ponds that they can suggest for a first time kayak-fisherman. I am partial to largemouth but am well-versed with smallmouth fishing on Mille Lacs and back home. 

 

Also, anyone have insight on Lake Tapps, I have a friend down there who wants to fish and he lives close by. I have another 9-foot kayak he will be using.

Hit me up if you wanna roll in the bass boat. Also Tapps is great. Never know ether you are gonna catch a smallmouth or a tiger musky or the elusive largie. Tapps should just be getting good now. Same ol stuff. Dropshot, soft plastic swimbait, ned, football jig, senko, spinnerbait, deep crank in the summer.  The spinnerbait on docks bite should be turning on soon (couple weeks). Just need one color. White double willow with white blades 3/8 or 1/2oz. then go back through with the senko.

Great. Thanks a lot Zeth! Luckily I have a few tiger muskies under my belt from my Midwest days but I wouldn’t mind running into another one. I think the color side of things will be very different here compared to back home. I almost primarily threw blacks/blues and darker colors, feels like I need to go lighter here. I have some spinners on order that you described.
