Has anyone had braid freeze when temps are above freezing? I didn’t think this was possible until today. First time it’s happened to me air temp was 36 and my 15lb power pro was icing up on me. Not sure on the water temp but it was windy as well

Air temps can vary in a short distance.  A couple of days ago I saw a 6° drop from 37° to 31° in just one mile.

Evaporative cooling - when the humidity is low the dew point is much lower than the air temperature -  the surface evaporating the water cools to lower than the surrounding air temperature.  

This why bridges can ice when it's melting everywhere else, why your truck ices with morning frost (solid dew) when air temp is above freezing, etc.

Wind chill can help in moving heat around, but it cannot change the temperature at which water freezes which is 32f at 1 atmosphere. lake water actually freezes at a (slightly) lower temp do to it not being pure water. I had braid freezing a couple of weeks and getting stiff and sending "snow" flying in my face. The temperature where you were fishing was in all probability below freezing.

   Stock up! 142b is on the short list, too. I just sold my last jug of R12 last year. Got a new rod, 2 reels and several lures with that money.    ?                           jj
