Table rock lake advice

Recommended Posts

On Easter weekend I will be spending three days on the southwestern side of table rock lake. I will have access to canoes and kayaks and will also bring my float tube, if the resort allows me

to hook my trolling motor up to their canoes I should be able to fish anywhere in the map area. Looking for advice on baits to throw, what the water clarity is generally like that time of year, and what stage of spawning the fish will likely be in plus any pointers or advice people familiar with the lake can give. The stared area is where I will be staying, thanks in advance!

The fish should be prespawn with some fish maybe getting started. Water clarity will vary but generally 7' plus. This is a great time to be out there.

I haven't fished back there in particular but I've fished up Indian and fished a lot of stuff around Baxter. Secondary points and 'stair step' rock banks. If the water is up, the buck brush will hold fish. The old adage at TR is that the right spawning bottoms are the same areas that grow buck brush. Sight fishing can be fun (neko's, neds) if they are moving up- I've had better luck on the fish I can't see. Dragging natural colored menaces and neds on secondaries adjacent to these areas will get you fish coming in and staging.

Spinnerbaits can be good on grey windy days. Natural colored suspending jerkbaits can work, vary cadence. Keitechs and neds always always work to some extent out there. Always think natural colors and light line on calm days out there.

Good luck!

If the weather stays like it's been the past week or so they'll be rearing to go when you are there.  Should be fun.

Jerkbaits, underspins, Keitechs, Ned rigs, shakyheads, football jigs, maybe a spinnerbait if the wind blows but it won't be fun being in the wind in anything you listed.

I fished a tournament there about that time of year a few years ago and won it on a bone 110 jerkbait and electric shad 3.8 fat impact on a 3/8oz underspin fished around spawning areas that had channel swings near them.

We should have some fish up by then. It's really dependent on water temps and once the nights get warmer. I would agree with Blues thoughts on baits and last year I still had a bit of a stickbait bite into the 60's..

We could go on about predictions but Table Rock can be very fickle .

I would be very careful in a canoe .

I appreciate all the advice guys and I have every bait listed here, I will make sure to pack plenty of finesse stuff. Can’t wait to get out on the water there and if the bass aren’t biting it looks like I can try for trout just down the road too. Anyone know if there are good populations of crappie or walleye in this area?

Been working on my jerkbait game a little bit, I will probably spend a lot of time with a pointer 78 tied on, hope they go for it!

Once get below Table Rock Dam and onto Taneycomo you are in the Trophy trout area and It run's down stream to Fall Creek .

There is wading access right below the dam . There is actually a decent Bass population also once you get below Branson Landing and on down toward Powersite ( Bull Shoals )  dam.
