Dobyns Fury Spinning? 702 vs 703

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I’m getting pretty d**n accurate with my spinning setup.

it’s the Med Phenix Maxim.  Senkos, neds etc. I think a second spinning rig would be beneficial when the punch rod stays home. (Kayak- five rod limit).

im leaning towards the Dobyns Fury 702.  It’s a scooch lighter than my current Maxim.

its would be nice to have a drop shot AND a senko sometimes.  Retying a drop shot in current is errr exciting.

:D opinions?

I have both the 702 and 703. The 702 is my dedicated drop shot rod and I am loving it. The 703 was nice when I tried it for drop shot but actually felt like too much rod for the shallow depths I am fishing in. Unless you are fishing more than 10’ deep or around heavy cover, I would say the 702 would be perfect. My 703 is seeing duty for weightless trick worms and wacky rig senkos and has been impressive so far.

My FR702 is my general finesse rod, I use a lighter rod for Neds and ultra-finesse.

My FR703 is for weightless worms (wacky, T-Rig), shakey-head, flukes and skipping finesse jigs.
