New mold

Featured Replies

New mold came why I was up north fr lure parts.  It is 1/4-1/2 brush jig mold.  It works very well for large rivers.  When I mean large rivers I’m talking From 6ft-30ft deep.  3rd picture is of a jig I bought via ebay already painted but, added my own skirt. So this will go with my flat eyed arkie 1/4-1/2, poison tail 1/2-1 oz bass molds

I like the 1/4oz size of that mold to tie the same finesse cut skirt as your bottom picture. Kind of a heavy finesse style jig with the heavier hook and weedguard than most finesse jigs.

Yeah I they do work good for that.  I decided to cut the skirt on that one in the picture when I was fishing in November.  Air temp was like 70 but, the water temp was low to mid 50’s.  So my thought process was water is cold so, I’ll try cutting the skirt to a finesse skirt on the fly. It worked caught some nice smallies on that jig

I was getting ready to order more jigs on eBay.  Than the total came up to like $32 and I thought to my self “that’s only like  10 bucks more for the mold its’ self “. So I bought the mold instead

I've bought a few heads in that mold from Mike at Siebert. It's an excellent design.

Once you get the melting pot and some of the supplies to make jigs and other baits, it starts to not make sense to buy them premade anymore unless you just want to remove the hassle of actually making them. Really opens your eyes to how much some companies are charging for things that so grossly overpriced (looking at you Ned rig jigheads).

That Midwest finesse mold is on my radar too

Yep my Ned heads cost from $.0 (free hooks) to $.20 for my gammys with all of my lead being free.  Even when I add weedguard it’s only a few more cents.
