How to make an 8inch Hudd weedless. Possible to install a weed guard?

Featured Replies

Got the itch to throw the 8 inch Hudd again.

Problem is that the jig hook constantly catches vegetation.  Vegetation is really coming back since the Texas winter storm killed off all of the tilapia in the pond.

Has anyone ever tried installing weed guard in the top of an 8 inch Hudd?

Thanks for the information.

In regards to those weedless boogers, I am curious about the hook size they were meant for.

I noticed that Tackle Warehouse carries these:

Anyone ever use these weed guards?

I think a heavy piece of mono like Mark Pack (RIP) does on his jigs would work.

Buy the weedless version ;)

Could try putting a little piece of a soft plastic on the hook point, I’m sure a big swimbait rod would have no problem going through an extra tiny piece of plastic

Hitchhiker spring and piece of finesse worm works good.

Clip on the worm and hitchhiker after tying on the Hudd.

Tom,

Thanks for the advice.

I will have to get some of those hitchiker springs.
