Where can I fish in Birmingham??

Featured Replies

hey there! been fishing for bass for a few years now. Ive done all my fishing around Georgia but moved to Birmingham for school. since I have been here I haven't found anywhere worth fishing. I tried Oak Mountain and got nothing and from what I've seen, no one else has either. just looking for a place not too far with some shore access (my boat is back in Georgia).

open to suggestions! been a long time since I've had a good fishing trip.

Surprised you say that about Oak Mtn.  They used to not allow catch and release a few years ago because the population was getting out of control (or so they said). Either way, I have caught some good ones there, give it another chance.

In any case, you can try Lake Purdy (near Inverness on 280)

Try the cahaba river off 280, or off 459 near Trussville.

Another option would be the little Cahaba River near Centreville.

As already mentioned the Warrior river is not that far, and neither is the Locust Fork.

Another neat little spot is behind the Home Depot off Of 280 in inverness.  Just turn at the home depot and follow that road until it ends at a bridge.  Just don't block the person's driveway.  Good wade fishing there.
